Three friends. Twenty acres. A labor of love.

Founded in 2021 by Kaysea Cook, Finn Ellis, and Taylor Lane, Flip Flop Farms is a 20-acre certified organic farm reclaiming fallow farmland on the North Coast at Coastways Ranch, previously cultivated by Swanton. We have been fortunate to be guided by some of the most successful mentors of organic production in our region. Through these teachings we have built a genuine love for the craft, committed to soil stewardship, regenerative methods, and growing the kind of food we want to eat ourselves — sometimes farming in flip flops. Our team has kept growing year after year, and we are grateful for each season we get to cultivate.

Beyond Organic Practices

At Flip Flop Farms, we take that commitment personally: if we wouldn't eat it ourselves, it doesn't go into our fields or onto our plants.

CCOF and Real Organic Project certifications go far beyond the USDA Organic baseline, which has been weakened by industry lobbying to allow synthetic pesticides and hydroponic growing without any real soil connection. These certifications signal that a farm is operating in the spirit consumers think they're getting with any organic label — genuine soil health, no synthetic chemical inputs, and ecological integrity over industrial efficiency.

Smart, Sustainable Energy

For Flip Flop Farms, choosing solar was about making a smart, long-term investment in sustainability, resilience, and the future of the farm. With daily energy needs and plenty of sunshine overhead, solar and battery backup was a natural fit for powering our portable tools, greenhouse fans, pumps, internet, lighting and even welding.

That’s why we chose Sandbar Solar & Electric, a trusted local company that has served the community for over 20 years. Sandbar brought the experience, professionalism, and local knowledge needed to design a system that supports the farm’s operations while aligning with its values.

Together, Flip Flop Farms and Sandbar Solar & Electric are proving that sustainability is not just the right choice — it’s the smart one.
