About
Flip Flop Farms

Founded by Kaysea Cook, Finn Ellis, and Taylor Lane in 2021, the bunch set out to reclaim fallow farmland to provide organic food and a new gathering place on the North Coast of Santa Cruz. Committed to soil stewardship and long-term resilience, we utilize compost, cover cropping, crop rotations, and beneficial insect hedgerows to maintain soil structure and increase organic matter. We provide high-quality, nutrient-dense produce — while sometimes farming in flops.

How You Can Support Small Farms:

Santa Cruz County created organic certification. Yet most food on our shelves is not from small farms that are capable of meeting some of this demand. We're asking local grocers, schools, and hospitals to source at least 25% of their food from farms right here in our county over the next 2-3 years. Sign your name and help us bring Santa Cruz food back to Santa Cruz tables.

Events & Private Gatherings

From Fields to Forks:

As part-time farmers, we’ve built Flip Flop Farms through dedication, mentorship, and a genuine love for the craft of farming over the past four years. Guided by experienced farmers and mentors in our region, we’ve learned the fundamentals and the finer details that make a farm successful.

For us, this work is a labor of love. We’re a small, agile team focused on doing things the right way: caring for our soil, growing healthy food, and nurturing the relationships that strengthen our community.

Too often, how food ends up on our plates is an afterthought. Many people aren’t aware of the steps, circumstances, and skilled hands involved in getting it there. Across the Central Coast, small farms like ours are working to increase agricultural literacy and highlight sustainable, regenerative methods that contribute to a healthier, more resilient food system.

At Flip Flop Farms, we look forward to sharing these stories through our produce, our partnerships, and through events on the farm that bring people closer to the land, helping close the gap between the field and the fork.
